And so I finally finished Metal Gear Solid 4. In a word… It was a masterpiece, comparable to any blockbuster movie or shooter. And the ending was simply immense!

This is it, brother; Our final moment. The battle has ended, but we are not yet free! The war is over… but… You and I still have a score to settle.

- Liquid Ocelot, Metal Gear Solid 4

I raised you, and loved you, I’ve given you weapons, taught you techniques, endowed you with knowledge. There’s nothing more for me to give you. All that’s left for you to take is my life.

- The Boss

A man’s country is not a certain area of land, of mountains, rivers, and woods, but it is a principle and patriotism is loyalty to that principle.

George William Curtis

“The enemy’s we fight are only enemy’s in relative terms. Yesterday’s good might be tomorrows evil. The only thing we can believe in with absolute certainty is the mission and have loyalty to the end.” — MGS 3 - The Boss

How to think like a soldier?  I can’t teach you that.  A soldier needs to be strong in spirit, body, and technique – and the only one you can learn from someone else is technique.  In fact, technique doesn’t even matter.  What’s important is spirit.  Spirit and body are like two sides of a single coin.  They’re the same thing.  I can’t teach you how to think.  You’ll just have to figure it out for yourself.

Just because soldiers are on the same side right now, doesn’t mean they always will be.  Having personal feelings about your comrades is one of the worst sins you can commit.  Politics determine who you face on the battlefield.  And politics are a living thing.  They change along with the times.  Yesterday’s good might be tomorrows evil.

- MGS 3 Snake Eater - The Boss

I’m no hero… Never was… Never Will be.

A name means nothing on the battlefield. After a week no one has a name…

To me Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater showcases the very reason why humanity is so detached. The connection between Snake and Boss is deep but because of the mission one is forced to kill the other.

That is the crippling fact of our current existence. We are all put into situations where we would prefer to obey and stay in line as apposed to break out of the system and live how we want to live.

In the 21st century everyone will be able to see that we are all just inhabitants of a little celestial body called Earth. - Boss, Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater
